講義概要/Course description
This course is designed to help students develop their speech communication skills, including techniques to lessen speaker anxiety and the use of visual aids to enhance speaker presentations.
This course offers them opportunities to participate in the following activities:
Listening skills: Taking notes and giving feedback to speakers in the Webex meeting if the use of Webex is possible.
Speaking skills: Giving various types of speeches in the Webex meeting if the use of Webex is possible.
Reading skills: Utilizing English source materials in the preparation of speeches.
Writing skills: Making outlines/scripts for the presentation and reports.
Auxiliary skills: Organizational and delivery skills; PC (PowerPoint) operational skills.
達成目標/Course objectives
The purpose of this course is to prepare students for success in actual business speaking situations and to provide them with the basic principles of organization and research needed for effective speeches. By the end of the course, students should be able to give effective speeches in English that hold an audience’s attention.
履修条件(事前に履修しておくことが望ましい科目など)/Prerequisite
This course will be mainly conducted in English and the completion of courses relating to “Oral English” is recommended.

授業方法/Method of instruction
The instructor will conduct the course using Webex, an online meeting system and Course Power, an LMS. Considering students' use of various devices, such as smartphones, PC's, iPads, the instructor will manage the course. Students will be expected to do research for their presentations using materials from the library, the Internet, and other appropriate sources. The presentations may not be given in front of the classmates, but in a different way.
